But, positive transformation is never spoonfed. We have to own our choices. We have to compost our consequences. We have to open our minds and carry our hearts. Not only is the food movement one of the best places to make a real impact on our planet, it’s also one of the most vitalizing, life-changing places to start. We don’t need judgment. We don’t need shame. We don’t need to bicker or blame. We just need our best selves in any given moment. We need a hope rooted in action. We need a present-moment paradigm that creates the future we imagine. This book is for people who care, and I think we all do—even those who have forgotten how, even those who were taught not to. That’s why my poetry is not stale and stuffy. Because we can be real here. That’s why this description is written in first-person, even though “you’re not supposed to”. Of course it’s first-person. Why be impersonal? I believe that poetry should be accessible to all, as natural as breathing. I want you to feel my words. They’re yours now. My intention is not to write flawless poetry, make loads of money, or get the whole world to love me. I’m motivated to make each moment better. To give my all to the everything. To be worthy of life itself. Come with me on this journey. The setting is the tip of our forks. We have everything to gain…and everything to lose. It’s all about choices. It’s all about change.
